First off...

In this first post, I’d like to put some structure to how I am planning to contribute to this blog. My writing may not follow a specific order with respect to the levels, the first few posts will be primarily on level 1 study tips, however I think all study tips I am writing here will help levels 2&3 candidates in their study process.

I will discuss a bit of material in my writing and share with you some of my personal study notes, but it will not be the main focus on this blog since there are already a ton of study materials. More importantly, I will share with all readers my personal feelings, experience, as well as what motivated me to keep going when my life hit the rock bottom.

Stay tuned for more to come.

Very excited about thus blog! When will you start to post topics on cfa level 2 (the hardest level)?
How many times did it take you to pass level 2? Do you have good study notes on level 2? would you provide some sample? If you sell study notes, what's the cost and can I pay via PayPal? Thanks

Sleepless in Vancouver! Still studying on level 2 for the second time. Would be very grateful if you can give some sample of your study notes for level 2. If it is good, I'm also willing to purchase the full package, what will be the price? Is it all in word doc or PDF ? Or do you ship cd ? Or hard copies ? Can I pay with PayPal? Thanks a lot. Very grateful and looking forward your blog!

It seems to be very promising blog and I will keep coming back to see the posts.
Same comment as someone else; would it be possible to get a notification when you update your blog?

I see many people ask for level 2. You say it may be random post. But it will be nice if you can organize in a way it is easy for reader to read. I was wondering if it is possible to get a notification for new posts only for level 1 ?

Hi, Interesting blog ! It would be nice to have a forum where we can interact. If you can organize clearly by section, it would be easier for me to find. For example notes on CFA level 1, level 2, level 3; tips to pass cfa each level in one shot?; section where we can select and buy your study notes if you have?; something about you (how long did it take you to pass each level? i assum you pass all levels?) I personally like PDF; Thanks. Sorry for long post

Very cool blog...do you have an apps for samsung or ipad? Thanks

Hi, very happy to see your blog. Struggling on the following concepts: yield, price of bonds; and relationship with interest rate? if interest rate is very low like now, what is the impact on price of bond and yield?
actually what is exactly yield? in books it says it is not the return. So if it is not the return what is yield?
Do you have any section where people can post their questions by topic? it will be easier for me to find your answer to my questions.
Thanks a lot !!!

We have some folks from Vancouver, how's the weather like over the west coast? Summer's definitely over in Toronto.

If you haven't read my last post, I am gonna try to answer more questions here, but take a look at my last article you might find some information useful.

On my notes: My notes are very comprehensive for each level but not in pdf, I will upload some samples so you can decide if they are worth buying. For level 3 I have over 300 flash cards covering all topics except ethics, if more of you are interested, I will convert everything in a soft copy.

Notification: an email notification is set up if you sign up with it. Unfortunately there's no specific alert on each topic, or I simply haven't mastered all functionalities offered here.

Forum: I would like to create a forum for everyone, searching for that now.

Apps: just started this site now so no apps, again, I will look into what I can offer.

Yield: this is a confusing concept for many candidates so I will explain in detail. When speaking about yield, you are almost always referring to some type of yield, be it current yield, yield to maturity, coupon yield, dividend yield etc. Candidates should always remember this - if interest rate decreases, the price of bonds increases, and when interest rate increases, price of bonds decreases. So there is an inverse relationship between interest rate and bond price. Candidates are expected to understand not only the definition but also to apply these concepts in the exams. To illustrate, imagine the interest rate decreased 0.5%, and the correlation between interest rate and bond price is -1, so price goes up by 0.5%, in this case, yield of the bond decreases.

Hope this helps.

I wrote 2 or 3 comments using my mobile below your comments but I don't see any if my comments. Just want thanks for your explanation on yield and the inverse relationship. I also tried to sue forum but it is loading very slow on my mobile. Great blog and thanks for your time. It is very nice of you to answer in this comment section and add a separated post on thus topic. I really find the post on bonds very helpful and useful!

Hi, me too, my good friend refers me to your blog. I am not doing cfa yet as it is not required for my job...however im considering doing it but the problem is I just dont have enough time. Since CFA is not required for my job, I think instead of doing officially level 1, I will just read your blog to learn more on investment and understand key concept from CFA level 1. Based on your post, I find it very interesting and useful. I especially like the post on bonds. Thanks a lot. Like someone else comments, I really respect you for taking your time to share and explain!
